PRVF-9992 : Group of device did not match the expected group

  

Error in runcluvfy. Verification result of failed node: rac2  Details:  -PRVF-9992 : Group of device "/dev/oracleasm/disks/OCR3" did not match the expected group. [Expected = "asmadmin"; Found = "oinstall"] on nodes: [rac1, rac2]  - Cause: Group of the device listed was different than required group.  - Action: Change the group of the device listed or specify a different device.  -PRVF-9992 : Group of device "/dev/oracleasm/disks/OCR2" did not match the expected group. [Expected = "asmadmin"; Found = "oinstall"] on nodes: [rac1, rac2]  - Cause: Group of the device listed was different than required group.  - Action: Change the group of the device listed or specify a different device.  Cause: The message clearly indicated that the expected permissions have not been given to the asm devices. In this case, ASM devices were configured by udev.rules method and the user wrongly selected /dev/oracleasm/disks in ASM diskgroup window during Grid Installation which are owned by root user and hence it failed. Solution: If you use udev.rules method to configure ASM devices, use only /dev/sd* path for disks. Go back to previous screens "Create ASM Disk Group" of Grid Infrastructure Installation and change the discovery path i.e. /dev/sd* which will list devices located in /dev/ path. By default in Grid Infrastructure Installation, you will get proper device location i.e. /dev/sd*.
