OEM 24ai Installation Step by Step:
Part-5 : OEM 24ai Agent Deployment from OMS Server Step by Step
Agent deployment in Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) has become significantly more streamlined. It is no longer necessary to manually download the agent software, transfer it to the target host, and perform a separate installation.
The process now only requires establishing secure connectivity between the Oracle Management Service (OMS) server and the target database host to be monitored. Once connectivity is configured, the agent deployment can be initiated directly from the OMS console.
During deployment, the OMS server automatically connects to the target host, transfers the required agent binaries, and performs the installation and configuration tasks remotely. This enhanced deployment mechanism reduces manual effort, minimizes configuration errors, and accelerates the overall onboarding of target systems into OEM monitoring.
Prerequisites for Agent Deployment from OMS to Target Database Server
1) TNS connectivity between the OMS server (source) and the target database server where the agent will be deployed.
2) OMS Upload PORT and Agent Deployment PORT must be same.
3) root and oracle user credentials must be provided during Agent Deployment Process.
4) Agent Home Directory must be created on target DB server where where the agent will be installed. (Example: "/u01/app/oracle/agent_home" ) and also, ensure adequate free space is available in that directory.
Step 1: Login to OMS server by below crendentials.
Step 2: Navigate to ☰ (Three-line menu) → Setup → Add Target → Add Targets Manually.
Step 3: The following screen will appear. Click on "Install Agent on Host" to proceed with the agent deployment.
Click on the Add option. You will be prompted to enter the Hostname and Operating System Platform details. If you provide an IP address instead of the hostname, a warning message will appear. However, you can still proceed with the deployment. Click NEXT to continue.
Step 4: In the following screen, you will be prompted to provide the required configuration details. Ensure that all entries are correct before proceeding.
1) Installation Base Directory - Specify the directory where the agent will be installed.(Example: /u01/app/oracle/agent_home)
2) Instance Directory - This directory will be created automatically when you click on the field. (Example: /u01/app/oracle/agent_home/agent_inst)
3) Named Credentials - Enter the oracle user credentials for performing the installation.
4) Root Credentials - Enter root user credentials to allow execution of root scripts during deployment.
5) Port Configuration - Ensure that the Agent Upload PORT and OMS Upload PORT are the same. A mismatch here may cause communication or upload issues and will fail the agent deployment.
Step 5: The following screen will appear, displaying a summary of all the entered details. Review the information carefully to ensure accuracy, then click on “Deploy Agent” to proceed with the installation. You can now view the Deployment Summary, along with Initialization Details and Remote Prerequisite Check Details. These sections provide information about the deployment progress and validation of the target host environment.
You have successfully deployed the Agent on the target database server through the OMS server.
